Marble

Though marble is predominantly white, many types contain characteristic swirls and veins of different colours which are due to different mineral deposits.

Marble's cool, smooth surface is ideal for baking and rolling out dough. Generally speaking though, polished marble will scratch and stain easily if used for an entire worktop.
